FA CUP: 4th Round Preview

The English FA Cup comes to its fourth round, with 32 teams. This competition has given unexpected results and undefining moments. In this tournament, all English clubs participate from top tier to level 10. In the third round, we saw Arsenal, the most successful club in the FA Cup with 14 titles, eliminated by the Championship side Nottingham Forest in this edition. As the tournament progresses, we can see the matches getting tough for each team. The fourth round matches will take place in the first week of February. Let us focus on some exciting ties ahead in the fourth round.

Man United vs Middlesbrough

The fourth round will start with the opening match between United and Middlesbrough. Man United will be hosting the tie and are likely to win it. United defeated Aston Villa 1-0 in the third round with an early goal in the 8th minute, enough for them. Middlesbrough overcame a fighting side of Mansfield Town in the third round with a stoppage-time winner in the 90+5th minute. United are the stronger side between these two teams and are likely to win it, but it is pretty early to predict as FA Cup consists of a lot of drama.

Man City vs Fulham

Man City made it through the third round quite comfortably when they defeated Swindon Town 4-1 away from home. On the other hand, Fulham had a very tight game against Bristol City. The game was level at the end of 90 minutes, forcing it to the Extra time. Fortunately, Fulham scored in the 105th minute to make it through to the fourth round. This match between the Premier League leader and the Championship leader promises to be entertaining looking into their recent forms.

Everton vs Brentford

Everton’s third-round match against Hull City went to the Extra time with scores level 2-2 at the end of 90 minutes. In the 99th minute, Townsend made Everton’s way to the fourth round by scoring from outside of the box. Brentford had a leisurely encounter with Port Vale where they won 4-1 and qualified for the fourth round. It’s tough times for Everton as they have parted ways with their manager and are currently two spots below Brentford in the Premier League table.

Tottenham vs Brighton

After trailing 1-0 by the end of the first half against Morecambe, Tottenham made sure they didn’t disappoint the home fans. Sixteen minutes reaming in the game, Tottenham came with an equaliser and sealed the game with goals in the 85th and 88th minute. Brighton had to fight for their spot in the fourth round, as their game went into Extra time after the scores were level against West Brom. The winner came in the 98th minute for Brighton. Tottenham is currently six points clear of Brighton in the Premier League.
