Okocha to join NFF board as vice president
3rd February
Former Super Eagles captain Austin "Jay Jay" Okocha is warming up to join the board of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) as vice-president.
Okocha is expected to declare his interest ahead of the federation elections billed for August 28, which are expected to usher in the sweeping changes advocated by many soccer fans that are unsatisfied with the present body of the NFF.
The 36-year-old former midfield magician is spurred by his current role as a member of the Presidential Task Force (PTF), a body created by the Nigerian government to help the NFF achieve optimum performance of the national teams.
He wishes to emulate former internationals like Taiwo Ogunjobi, Segun Odegbami, Dominic Iorfa and Fabian Duru who have served on the board of the Nigerian Federation.
He last featured for the Super Eagles in a third place match against the Teranga Lions of Senegal at the 2006 Nations Cup in Egypt.
